"Glad" to have their help!

Northwest Arkansas manufacturer doubles goal - helping local patients a key component

Where your blood goes matters. Just ask some of the employees at Glad Manufacturing in Rogers. After holding their last several drives with another organization, the trash bag and food storage container company decided to help local patients by letting Community Blood Center of the Ozarks take a turn. What they found was that their employees care very much who gets their precious gift.

A modest fifty donation goal was set for the two-day event, yet 108 employees registered to give. "We were really taken back by the response," said Patsy Allen, who coordinated the drive along with Activities Committee members Linda Dozier and Shirley Mason. "I think the fact that the blood stays in the community was an important factor in the turnout," Allen added.

Drive coordinators put out posters and flyers for the drive and registered donors for a Brita water pitcher. Replacement workers would take over the positions of potential donors while they gave at the drive. "I know that many of our people could only be away from their duties for a very short time and I think that we lost some potential donors because of the great response," Allen said. "I’m so proud. The lines were long, but we had a great time while we were waiting. We’ll be ready to break our record next time."
